Woman Critically Injured After Plunging Down UES Air Shaft, Officials Say

UPPER EAST SIDE — A 21-year-old woman was critically injured after she plunged down an air shaft at an Upper East Side building Friday morning, officials said.

First responders were called to the building on 82nd Street, near Second Avenue, about 12:46 a.m., FDNY and NYPD officials said.

It took nearly two hours before the woman, who has not been named, could be removed. She  was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital where she was listed in critical condtition, officials said.

Police don't suspect any criminality in the incident.
