DOWNTOWN — A worker was injured Friday morning at Four World Trade Center as crews secured the spire atop nearby One World Trade Center, making it the tallest building in the U.S., an FDNY spokesman said.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, plunged from an elevated platform and injured his head about 7:52 a.m., fire officials said.

It's not clear how far the man fell.

The worker, believed to be in his 40s, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was in stable condition, the spokesman said.

It did not appear that the accident had any impact on the securing of the spire.
