NEW YORK CITY — The Citi Bike program is set to launch May 27, during Memorial Day, city officials announced Thursday.

The program will bring roughly 6,000 bikes for riders to share at 330 stations throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Riders who sign up by May 17 will receive electronic keys that will grant them access to the bikes for one week before the system opens to daily and weekly members on June 2, according to the Department of Transportation.

"Get ready to ride," the DOT tweeted.

Riders can purchase either a 24-hour pass for $9.95 and or a 7-day pass for $25 from any station. The bikes can be taken out for up to 45 minutes, after which overtime charges apply.

Riders can also buy a $95 annual membership.

The launch had previously been delayed two months after Hurricane Sandy floodwaters destroyed two-thirds of the program’s equipment, housed at its Brooklyn Navy Yard facility.
