Worker Falls 25 Feet Down Financial District Elevator Shaft, FDNY Says

NEW YORK CITY — A worker tumbled 25 feet down an elevator shaft within a Financial District skyscraper Thursday morning, an FDNY spokesman said.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, plummeted down the open shaft within 61 Broadway, near Exchange Place, about 11:18 a.m., fire said.

The victim was rushed to Bellevue where he's being treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries, the spokesman said.
