Man Punched, Cellphone Stolen at Times Square Subway Station, Cops Say

TIMES SQUARE — Police are searching for a man who is suspected of punching another man inside the Times Square subway station and taking off with the victim's cellphone early Monday, police said.

The NYPD released a video of the alleged attack, which shows the suspect chatting briefly with the 35-year-old victim on the mezzanine of the Times Square subway station at 12:02 a.m. on Monday.

In the video, the alleged attacker looked around in a couple directions and then punched the victim so hard that he fell over.

The suspect then grabbed the victim's cellphone from his hand and ran toward the northbound 1 train platform, police said.

Police described the suspect as a man about 30 years old, 6-foot-3, with curly hair. He was last seen wearing black or dark gray pants and a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said.
