SOUTH JAMAICA — A man was discovered dead inside a private Queens home following a fire Sunday morning, police and fire officials said.

The victim, who had not been identified, was found in the basement of a home at 119-30 146th Street shortly after the fire — which began at 9:36 a.m. — had been extinguished.

The one-alarm fire, which was handled by 16 firefighters, was under control by 10:02 a.m., fire officials said. No other injuries were sustained in battling the blaze, the FDNY said.

The man's identity had not been released Sunday night, pending family notification and a Medical Examiner's determination on the cause of death, police said.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.
