Construction Disrupts 18 Subway Lines This Weekend

NEW YORK — Construction will affect 18 subway lines this weekend, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

From Friday night through Monday morning, the following lines will be disrupted: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, C, E, F, G, J, M, N, Q, R and S.

The changes come as part of the MTA's work to upgrade and maintain tracks, stations and signal systems.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, no 1 trains will run between 14th Street and Rector Street and no 2 trains will run between Third Avenue-149th Street and 135th Street. Customers are advised to use free shuttle buses or other trains on the line.

From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, no 5 trains will run between East 180th Street and East 149th Street due to station rehabilitation at 149th Street. Customers should either take the 2 train or shuttle buses.

No 7 train service will run from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza due to construction. The E, N, Q and S trains offer alternative routes.

There will also be no J train service between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center from 5:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of work from Cypress Hills to 130th Street. Customers should take the E train or shuttle buses.

Other changes this weekend:

Trains on the 4 and 6 lines will run express downtown from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday through to 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Uptown A trains will be rerouted via the F line from Jay Street-MetroTech to West 4th Street from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and C trains will go along the same route from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound A trains will run express from Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets to Utica Avenue. Euclid Avenue-bound C trains will do the same from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Queens-bound E trains will run express from Canal Street to 34th Street-Penn Station from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica Center-bound E and Queens-bound R trains will run express from Roosevelt Avenue to Forest Hills-71st Avenue throughout the weekend.

Coney Island-bound F trains will run express from 34th Street-Herald Square to West 4th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

M trains will bypass Central Avenue until August 2013.

Brooklyn-bound N trains will run express from 34th Street-Herald Square to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, and Brooklyn-bound R trains will do the same from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, Saturday and Sunday.

From 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-bound Q trains will run express from Prospect Park to Kings Highway.

The S train will run overnight on Saturday and Sunday to make up for the lack of 7 train service.
