ST. GEORGE — The Staten Island Railway will not stop at the ferry terminal this weekend because of construction, the city Department of Transportation said.

The train service will start and end at the Tompkinsville stop instead of the St. George stop beginning Friday at 9 p.m. The suspension of service was necessary so that workers could remove construction shielding installed during the renovation of the ferry terminal ramps.

Shuttle buses will be provided between the Tompkinsville station and the ferry terminal during the weekend, and passengers will be picked up and dropped off in St. George at the north bus station, the DOT said.

The DOT told passengers to plan for additional travel time during the weekend.

SIR service in the ferry terminal will restart on Monday at 5 a.m.
