MIDTOWN — A suspect who allegedly made off with more than $100,000 in gold chains from a Midtown jeweler in 2011 is still in the wind, according to the NYPD.

The man has been on the run since December 15, 2011, when police said he walked into Italian Elegant Jewelry, located at 55 W. 47th St., about 11:20 a.m. and asked to see some heavy gold chains.

The sales clerk looked away briefly after bringing him a selection, cops said. That's when the alleged jewel thief seized the moment, shoved the chains into the back pocket of his pants and fled, police said.

Cops described the alleged thief as being in his 60s with short, salt-and-pepper hair. He was last seen wearing a black overcoat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
