By Andrea Swalec | March 12, 2013 12:08pm

MANHATTAN — Police are hunting a man suspected of robbing a string of Manhattan businesses, including an IHOP restaurant and FedEx store, as part of an afternoon spree last week, authorities said.

The suspect successfully knocked over a pair of places and tried to rob two others all before 3 p.m. on Friday, police said.

The suspect first struck about 10 a.m. Friday at the Chase Bank location at 498 Seventh Ave. near West 37th Street, cops said. He passed a note to a worker and demanded cash but left empty-handed, police said.

He tried again minutes later at the FedEx Office outpost at 157 W. 35th St. near Seventh Avenue, passing a note and leaving with cash.

The suspect then headed to Modell's Sporting Goods at 150 Broadway, where he asked for cash around 2 p.m. but left with nothing, police said.

Heading back north, the suspect struck at the IHOP at 230 Varick St., which opened in January. The man gave a worker a note demanding money at about 2:45 p.m. and made away with cash, police said.

The suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, is described as standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 pounds, cops said.

There were no reported injuries in any of the four incidents, according to police.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).  The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
