STATEN ISLAND — A woman was arrested and charged with murder for shooting her boyfriend in the head Sunday night at the Staten Island home they shared, authorities said.

Lisa McQuade, 38, shot and killed Christopher Bonafede, 39, at their home at 471 Ridgewood Ave. before police were called to the address at about 7 p.m. Sunday, the NYPD said. McQuade was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a loaded gun, cops said.

Neighbors on their Eltingville block said the couple mostly kept to themselves, and they did not hear screaming or yelling coming from the home.

Ismail Akroy, 65, who's lived on the block for three years, said that the block is relatively quiet. He said Bonfede only made a lot of noise speeding down the block on his motorcycle, or when his several pitbulls were barking.

"This place is a very silent place," Akroy said. "He was different."

Akroy said the couple had lived in the home for around a year, and that he was shocked to hear what had allegedly happened.

"It's a surprise," he said.

The Staten Island mother of three rode the subway for several hours before turning herself in to the police and confessing that she had shot Bonafede, the New York Post reported. McQuade reportedly said that Bonafede had been "beating" her.
