Man Attempts to Rob LES Bodega After Striking Worker, Police Say

LOWER EAST SIDE — Cops are hunting a man who attempted to rob a Grand Street bodega Saturday night after striking the store's worker, authorities said.

The suspect, who was caught on surveillance footage, tried to swipe money from a cash register at the Hilltop Grocery located at the corner of Grand and Henry streets, after striking an employee just before 10 p.m., the NYPD said. He ultimately fled the shop empty-handed, police added.

The suspect is described as between 25 and 30, standing 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-5, and wearing a black leather jacket, brown hooded sweatshirt, black hat and blue jeans, police said.
