Young Child Seriously Hurt After Getting Hand Stuck in Escalator

UPPER WEST SIDE — A young child was seriously hurt after getting a hand caught in a Barnes & Noble escalator Friday morning, officials said. 

The tyke, who officials said is between 3 and 5 years old, sustained the injury about 11:45 a.m. at the Barnes & Noble at 82nd Street and Broadway, officials said.

The child was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious but stable condition, officials said.

The escalator was shut down after the incident.

A store manager declined comment.
