LIVINGSTON — Staten Island doo-wop and soul singer Ernest Wright will perform at a concert hosted by Snug Harbor Cultural Center to celebrate Black History Month.

Wright, a member of Little Anthony and the Imperials, known for hits including "Tears on my Pillow" and "Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko-Bop," will perform at Snug Harbor's Visitor Center on Feb. 23.

A long-time Staten Island resident, Wright is also famous for "Two Kinds of People in the World," which some consider to be the greatest doo-wop song. He preformed it with the Imperials at their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, a Snug Harbor spokesman said.

"This program showcases the work and careers of one of the many truly innovative local, African American musicians," said Lynn Kelly, CEO of Snug Harbor, in a statement.

The concert will also kick off Snug Harbor's "Island Sounds Music-Mashup" series of free concert, screening, musical conventions and workshops in 2013. The series will be part of the museum's existing "Island Sounds: A 500 Year Music Mash-Up" exhibit celebrating local artists.

"An Evening with Ernest Wright," will be held at Snug Harbor's Visitor Center, Building C. The concert will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and admission will be free, but donations to help Hurricane Sandy relief efforts will be accepted.
