UPPER EAST SIDE — You can now take in city history and tuck into local food at the same time.

The Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Ave., will offer guests free snacks from area artisans, such as P&H Soda, Ovenly popcorn, Spoonable Caramel, Kings County Jerky, Early Bird Granola and preserves from the Jam Stand on Feb. 16 and 17, officials recently announced.

The Museum has organized this special event to celebrate Presidents Day weekend, they said.

During the event, all exhibitions will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Museum's normal hours, they said.

This includes "Making Room: New Models for Housing New Yorkers" — which includes a model of a fully furnished, 325-square foot apartment.

In addition, curators will leads tours of "Activist New York," which tracks the City's social activism history and "Designing Tomorrow: America's Worlds Fairs of the 1930s," which looks at how these events impacted the country's concept of the future.

And at 1 p.m. Saturday, the 28th New York Sword Dance Festival will take place at the Museum.

Festivities "bring an ancient winter celebration to life with fast-paced 'rapper' sword and mysterious long sword dancing," museum officials said in a statement.

"Always inspired by New York City, the Museum is excited to host its very first ‘Made in New York’ weekend, featuring a variety of local, artisanal treats," a MCNY spokesperson told DNAinfo.com New York.

"These fun samplings round out a weekend at the City Museum with special curator-led tours of our fantastic exhibitions and a sword dancing family event.”
