GOWANUS — A former public bathhouse turned performance venue is slated to be sold at auction, but its owner says he's fighting the sale.
The Brooklyn Lyceum, a landmarked building at Fourth Avenue and President Street, is scheduled to be auctioned on Feb. 28, the Real Deal reported.
The ornate building is facing $5.05 million in liens, and a New York State Supreme Court judge granted a "final foreclosure judgment" on the property in September, according to the Real Deal.
Owner Eric Richmond told DNAinfo.com New York he's appealed that decision, but he couldn't immediately provide more details.
The Lyceum was originally built in 1908 as a public bathhouse. Today it's a cultural space that hosts theater, dance and music productions, as well as holiday marketplaces and activities like roller-skating and contra dancing.
