CHINATOWN — Officials are investigating the cause of a Mott Street fire that gutted a three-story apartment building Sunday.
The blaze at 75 Mott St. near Canal Street started just before 3:30 p.m. and was brought under control about an hour later, officials said.
Three firefighters were taken to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
“I’m very disappointed. I don’t understand why [it started],” said a 60-year-old man who identified himself as the building’s manager. “I’m just trying to find out what happened.”
