EAST HARLEM — Two people were shot about 15 minutes and a block apart in East Harlem Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

In the first shooting, a woman was shot in her leg at Madison Avenue and East 108th Street about 1:15 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

Fifteen minutes later, a man was shot in the foot near 1641 Madison Ave., just a block away, fire officials said.

Authorities couldn't confirm that the two shootings were related. Police said the shootings were under investigation.

Both victims were taken to Harlem Hospital Center in stable condition and their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.

Neither victim was identified.

A police spokesman said the male victim was not cooperating in the investigation.
