WESTERLEIGH — A car slammed into a Staten Island storefront Monday afternoon.

The crash happened at 18 Bradley Ave. near Victory Boulevard about 2:20 p.m., when a Honda hit the front of Halbreich Accounting and Tax Services Inc., shattering one of the windows, witnesses and the Fire Department said.

"We were just sitting in the waiting room and the car went through the front," said a man who works in the business, but declined to give his name. "We just jumped out of the way."

There were no injuries, the Fired Department said.

Another worker, who also declined to give his name, said he saw an elderly couple park the car and then go into a Mexican restaurant next to the accounting office earlier in the afternoon.

The couple then got back into the vehicle, and rather than backing out of the space, drove directly into the building, the worker added.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.

The Department of Buildings was called in to inspect for any structural damage, according to the agency's website.
