THE BRONX — A man was stabbed to death and set on fire early Saturday morning, and police arrested a man Sunday in the murder, police said.

Gregory Evans, 56, was found with stab wounds around his neck, and burns to his body at 6 a.m. when firefighters responded to a blaze on the second floor of his Webster Avenue building, near West 182nd Street in Fordham, police said.

Evans was rushed to the hospital but determined to be dead on arrival, officials said.

Blocks away Leo Huggins, 48, of Kingsbridge Heights, was taken into custody at East Fordham Road and Webster Avenue on Saturday, and later arrested.

Huggins faces three charges on three counts of murder, as well as burglary and arson.

An investigation into the fire and stabbing is ongoing, police and fire officials said.
