17-Year-Old Shot to Death with AK-47 in Queens

FAR ROCKAWAY — A 17-year-old was shot in the head by men wielding an AK-47, and died early Saturday morning, according to police and published reports.

Xavier Granville, 17, of Far Rockaway, was gunned down by two men wearing ski masks, according to the NY Daily News,  and found dead with a gunshot wound in his head, in front of Beach 15th Street at 12:33 a.m. by police.

Witnesses and family members said Granville was a well-loved teen who enjoyed playing video games and had hoped to become a marine biologist, according to the News.

Shakira Granville, who spoke to the News after identifying her son's body, said, “My son didn’t deserve to go out like this...The pain I feel. I’m just in shock.”

Police had made no arrests on Saturday, and an investigation was ongoing, police said.
