QUEENS — Major service disruptions on the 7 train line will begin this weekend, putting a kink in travel plans for many Queens residents.

Construction will suspend service on the 7 line between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza every weekend through March 25, the MTA said.

The 7 train will run in Queens between Queensboro Plaza and Main Street.

Straphangers looking to travel between Queens and Manhattan can take shuttle buses from Queensboro Plaza to Vernon-Jackson, or hop on the N and Q trains at Queensboro Plaza, the MTA said. E and F trains are also available at 74th Street-Roosevelt Avenue or Court Square-23rd Street into Manhattan.

The last 7 trains between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza will run at 12:01 a.m. on Saturdays and resume at 5 a.m. Mondays, in time for the morning rush hour, through March 25.

The service disruption will allow the MTA to do track, signal and tunnel maintenance work in the Steinway Tunnel, which connects Manhattan and Queens, MTA officials said.
