Police Arrest Bronx Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing Wife

WAKEFIELD — Police have arrested a Bronx man accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife outside her Baychester Avenue apartment on December 16.

Omar Martinez, 31, is being charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. He currently is awaiting arraignment.

Police discovered Maxine Martinez, the mother of three, unconscious with stab wounds to the neck and head at 9:30 a.m. on Baychester Avenue between Camp Street and Nereid Avenue on Sunday, December 16.

The 44-year-old was rushed to Montefiore Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
