'Bushwig' Drag Fest Returns on New Year's Eve

By Meredith Hoffman | December 20, 2012 11:46am

BUSHWICK — Green wigs, white fur coats, a mohawk of pink plastic forks, and 2-foot-tall floral platform shoes were just a few of the flashy costumes at the inaugural "Bushwig" drag festival in September. And thanks to the success of the first-ever event, organizers pulled together another one in record time.

Bushwig's drag queens are ready to usher revelers into 2013 with a New Year's Eve bash planned at the DIY events space, Secret Project Robot, according to the festival's co-founder Babes Trust.

"It was awesome!" said Trust (born as Simon Leahy) of the fall event, which was also held at Secret Project Robot. "So awesome that Secret Project Robot has invited us back to host their New Year's Eve party!"

The all-night performance line-up includes "eight of the finest drag queens, a free midnight champagne fountain, a photo booth and DJ sets," Trust's announcement of the New Year's Eve party states.

Bushwig NYE runs 10 p.m. — 6 a.m. Tickets are $10.
