PARK SLOPE — A boutique that's new to the neighborhood got an unpleasant welcome to Park Slope.

A thief stole more than $1,000 of clothing from Poppy, a trendy boutique that opened in November on Fifth Avenue between Union and President sreets, police said. The store is the first Brooklyn outpost for Poppy, which also has a shop on Mott Street in NoLita.

On Dec. 4, a crook walked out of the store with a $302 Smythe jacket, a $315 Elizabeth and James vest, a $152 Tucker dress, a $122 Lauren Moffatt blouse, a $112 Daft Bird top and a $44 unspecified item by Daft Bird, according to a police report.
