EAST VILLAGE — The body of a man was discovered on the tracks at the First Avenue subway station early Monday, officials said.
Authorities were called to the East 14th Street station about 7:15 a.m. and found the body on the southbound tracks, according to the FDNY.
It was unclear if the victim was struck by a train, the MTA said.
The man has not been identified, officials said.
The grisly discovery and the subsequent NYPD investigation caused delays in both directions on the L train, according to the MTA.
Frustrated commuters were irate about the rush hour delays, saying the MTA should have done more to notify them about the service changes.
Not again," said Christine Muller, 45-year-old adminstrative assistant waiting for the train at Graham Avenue. "It happens quite frequently. It's frustrating.
Service was restored a short time later.
