Police Hunt for Suspect in Attempted Rape in Bed-Stuy

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Police are searching for a man suspected of trying to a rape a woman in Bed-Stuy on Friday.

The victim, 21, was walking towards her home at 1:20 a.m., when the suspect, described at 6 feet tall and 170 pounds in his 20s, sidled up next to her and began walking with her, police said. 

Suddenly, the man grabbed her, and began to try and rape the woman, police said. The victim's distressed screaming alerted a passerby, who intervened, and the suspect ran off, police said.

The NYPD has released a video of the suspect, and described him as clean-cut, wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and a winter hat with stringed ear flaps.
