FAR ROCKAWAY — The body of a man who was found in Rockaway Park had two gunshot wounds to the head, triggering a homicide investigation, the NYPD said Friday.

Medical crews rushed to the beach near Beach 13th Street, close to Seagirt Boulevard, Thursday about 9:30 a.m., FDNY officials said. That's when they found the unidentified man covered in sand, a fire spokesman said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Cops later determined that the victim had two gunshot wounds to his head, police said.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
