DOWNTOWN — An 82-year-old man was struck and killed by a National Guard truck in Chinatown Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The camouflage vehicle hit Kwok Fu of Flushing, Queens, near the intersection of Canal and Centre streets around 1:30 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

Fu was crossing Canal Street from north to south when he was struck by a National Guard Personnel Carrier that was travelling westboung on Canal Street, police said.

According to a witness, the truck involved in the accident was the first in a caravan of National Guard trucks that was moving through the area.

Peter Wang, who sells tourist items at the nearby Phoenix Mall, said the man was crossing Canal Street when he was hit, the force of the impact scattering his belongings across the busy street.
