UPPER EAST SIDE — Cops are seeking a man who allegedly robbed and assaulted a 73-year-old woman in her Upper East Side apartment earlier this month.

The NYPD says the victim left her apartment, located in a building in the vicinity of East 85th Street and Park Avenue, to retrieve her mail just after 6 a.m. on October 2. When she returned, the man was standing in her home, police said.

The suspect threw the woman to ground when she tried to run away, police said. He snatched her purse and fled, police said.

Cops described the suspect as having gray hair and standing between 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark cap and a blue sweatshirt at the time of the alleged robbery.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
