RED HOOK — Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes and NYPD Housing Bureau Chief Joanne Jaffe will be meeting residents and taking questions at a town hall-style meeting at the Red Hook Community Justice Center on Wednesday night.

The justice center, located at 88 Visitation Pl., is around the corner from the Red Hook Houses, the city's second-largest public housing complex and home to more than 6,000 residents.

"There are no set topics," said Jessica Colon, the justice center's project director. "People have been concerned about shootings earlier in the summer, robberies in the neighborhood. But that's just what we were hearing over the summer."

The DA's office recently made headlines in Red Hook for a high-profile drug bust at the Red Hook Houses that resulted in 12 arrests Sept. 5. The crackdown and disruption of the drug trade, however, which followed a triple-shooting in July that left three injured, also inadvertently led to a string of gunpoint muggings as drug dealers sought other sources of illegal income, police said.

Wednesday night's meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 718-440-5775.
