SOHO — Elie Tahari is ready for the leaves to change.

The popular designer's Fall 2012 collection was on display at his West Broadway boutique for Fashion's Night Out Thursday, featuring celebrity stylist and fashion editor Julie Matos pulling together looks from the collection for guests.

Known for her accessible style sense, Matos has created looks for a roster of celebrities and fashion magazines, including Demi Moore, Julianne Moore, Cosmopolitan and Blackbook.

Tahari's Fall 2012 collection, which arrived in the boutique last week, drew loyal legions of customers who flooded the elegant space for three hours of cocktails, hor d’oeuvres and shopping.

With a DJ spinning classic rock from the '70s and '80s, Street Chic was very impressed by the wide selection of elegant looks, including Tahari's use of distinct colors. The hues underlined the rich, lush and timeless textiles the designer is known for, like satin, cashmere knit, wool crape, stretch wool blends, as well as leather and fur accessories.

Many of the tailored looks were very figure-flattering. For instance, princess seam dresses, straight-leg pants and pencil skirts were paired with very ladylike and classic bow blouses and button-front collared tops.

We also took note that the most popular color at the event was Tahari’s signature "Moscow violet." The rich, warm tone was spotted in several silhouettes, from crape dresses to sleeveless tops. Violet hues have been a strong runway trend for the past few seasons, including looks from Carolina Herrera and Veronica Beard’s Spring 2013 collection.

Tahari’s take on the biker jacket also provided a knockout silhouette, with a utility zipper and  trapunto stitched peplum hitting all of the key trends of the Fall 2012 season.
