Police Seek Man in Beating and Sexual Assault of Greenwich Village Woman

GREENWICH VILLAGE — Police are looking for a man who viciously beat a woman until she was unconscious, then sexually assaulted her.

Police say the man entered a business, which appears to be a massage parlor, at 85 Washington Place about 10 a.m. on Aug. 17. He repeatedly struck a 41-year-old woman on the face and body until she lost consciousness, then sexually assaulted her, police said. The suspect then stole property from the business and fled on foot, police said.

The assault victim was taken by ambulance to Beth Israel Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

Police described the suspect as a man between the ages of 20 and 25 years old, approximately six feet tall, wearing a dark Kangol-style cap, a dark T-shirt, camouflage shorts, and a backpack.
