TRIBECA — Former "American Idol" Jordin Sparks is ready for her close up.

The singer's debut on the big screen was celebrated last night at the premiere of "Sparkle," at the Tribeca Grand Hotel.

This film features the late Whitney Houston in what was her final film role before the singer's untimely death earlier this year.

The movie, a remake of the original "Sparkle" from 1976, is inspired by The Supremes and features three sisters trying to find fame as a girl group in the 1960s. Houston plays their conflicted mother, and the film is dedicated in her memory.

Sparks' co-stars in the film, including Tika Sumpter, Carmen Ejogo, Mike Epps and Derek Luke, all attended the screening.

Other guests included Olympic gold-medal gymnasts Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross, Jordyn Wieber, as well as swimmer Cullen Jones, and actor Anthony Edwards, Salman Rushdie, Gabourey Sidibe and Stephen Baldwin.
