UPPER MANHATTAN — A man jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge Thursday night, officials said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, leapt from the south sidewalk on the New York side of the bridge about 6:45 p.m., a spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department said.
The man landed at the base of the bridge's New York tower, the Port Authority said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A guard at the base of the bridge reported the incident, the Port Authority said.
