THE BRONX — An anonymous donor has come forward to pay the funeral bill for 4-year-old Lloyd Morgan, who was killed by a stray bullet in the Bronx, Assemblyman Eric A. Stevenson's office announced on Tuesday.

Morgan was killed by a stray bullet during a gunfight near a Morrisania playground where he was playing on July 22.

Stevenson said that, through his efforts, "a private benefactor has come forward and has paid the balance of the funeral bill for the Lloyd Morgan family,” according to a prepared statement.

"We intend to do all we can for the family of Lloyd Morgan Jr. in [their] time of need,” Stevson said in the statement. “New Yorker’s do have a heart.”

The assemblyman also said that he would use his office as "a conduit" for anyone who wanted to donate additional funds.

A spokesman for Stevenson said the office did not know who the generous donor was, and could not confirm whether the money was donated to the office or to the family.

"All I know is that the chld is going to be buried, and that's the most important thing," the spokesman said.
