NEW YORK CITY — It's Brooklyn versus Queens, and one side will end up all wet.

An ambitious New Yorker has started what he's dubbed an "epic water balloon and water gun fight" between Queens and Brooklyn at Astoria Park Saturday, and more than 100 water balloon warriors have confirmed their attendance, according a Facebook page for the event.

"I think we all can agree that there is a certain rift between the 'People from Queens' and the 'Brooklynites'," the page reads. "Whatever that rift may be I think it's time for a common gathering to quell the contrasting beliefs that we have for one another....because [quite] honestly....we are all New Yorkers."

Teams will start organizing at 2:30 p.m the day of the fight, which was reported by the Queens Courier. Queens residents should wear light blue and white clothes, according to the event's Facebook page, while Brooklynites are encouraged to wear dark blue and gold.

The sides will start off at opposite ends of the park, and everyone who attends the fight has to bring at least five water balloons.

"Water guns are also permitted and are encouraged," the invite says.

The event was planned by Facebook user Rob Forrester, who is planning on bringing 1,500 balloons to the park, he wrote on his wall.

"That's just the tip of the balloon berg my friends," Forrester commented on a photo of a bath tub half-filled with water balloons.

"[K]eep them wet. [O]therwise they dry out and pop. [S]erious," Facebook user Adam Campbell-Schmitt offered helpfully.

The battle, which begins at 3:30 p.m. sharp, will be followed by drinks at the nearby Bohemian Hall Beer Garden.
