SUNSET PARK — Firefighters battled a basement fire at a Chinese restaurant on Eighth Avenue early Tuesday, officials said.
The fire at the Empire BBQ Restaurant Inc. at 5805 8th Avenue broke out just before 7:30 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.
There were no reported injuries.
Sixty firefighters from 12 units fought the single-alarm fire for about 45 minutes, officials said. The blaze was considered under control at 8:17 a.m.
The cause of the fire at the three-story building was not immediately known.
