MIDTOWN — Talk about a bad trip.

Police are looking for two men who pretended to be cops and robbed a tourist after they took him halfway across the city.

According to the NYPD, two men claiming to be cops approached the 42-year-old victim just after 6 a.m. on June 3 at West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue and asked him for identification.

The man did not have any on him, cops said, but brought the fake officers back to his room at the Econolodge Hotel on West 47th Street to get it. The men allegedly demanded cash once they got there.

According to police, the man complied, then all three got into a cab under the pretext that they were heading to a nearby precinct to check the money. When they arrived at 125th Street, the two men pushed the tourist out of the way and got into another vehicle.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
