GREENWICH VILLAGE — The film premiere of “Trishna” brought out the hot summer whites Tuesday night.

From the film’s star Freida Pinto, to the evening’s hosts Rachel Roy and Circa’s Veronica Webb, to Chris Del Gatto and even actor Rob Morrow, all shades of white were donned for the screening, co-hosted by the Cinema Society at the IFC Center on Sixth Avenue. Even fashion icon Calvin Klein’s date for the evening, Drena DeNiro, went white.

The film itself is an updated, culturally shifted version of Thomas Hardy's novel “Tess of the D’Urbervilles,” with Pinto cast as the daughter of an auto-rickshaw owner who becomes involved with the wealthy son of a hotel developer.

The story unfolds as a collection of conflicts — rich versus poor, rural versus urban — and is set in contemporary Rajasthan in northern India. It was directed by acclaimed British director Michael Winterbottom.

After the screening, the party continued at the Jimmy at The James Hotel with such celebrities as Zosia Mamet, Dana Delaney and Melissa George joining the soiree.
