GLEN OAKS — An 11-year-old boy was saved on the Fourth of July when a lifeguard plucked him from the water at a Glen Oaks pool and performed CPR.

The boy fell into trouble at the Royal Ranch neighborhood complex pool at 261-10 Bridgewater Ave., according to WABC/Channel 7.

The boy's mother pulled him from the water and the lifeguard, Emily Harms, 21, began to resuscitate him.

Chris Russo, a retired NYPD officer, also rushed over to help.

"He was blue," Russo, 53, told the Daily News. "He was technically dead."

The boy began to cough water and breathe before EMT crews arrived on the scene. He was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where a family friend told the Daily News that he was expected to make a full recovery.
