NEW YORK — A Salvador Dali painting stolen from a Madison Avenue art gallery was recovered at JFK Airport on Thursday, police said.

The $150,000 painting, "Cartel des Don Juan Tenorio," was taken from the Venus Over Manhattan gallery June 19 when a man wearing a dark shirt with white polka dots walked into the gallery with a black cloth bag and then walked out with the artwork, according to police.

The 1949 painting was "sent from overseas" to the airport on Thursday, police said.

It was not immediately clear who sent the painting.

No arrests have been made.

A representative of the gallery declined to comment.
