Four Relics Stolen in Queens Synagogue Burglary

QUEENS — Four valuables used in Jewish rituals were reported stolen from a Forest Hills synagogue last Monday, June 18, the NYPD said.

Two Torah shields (breastplates placed on Torah scrolls), a Kiddush cup, and a yed — a pointer used while reading the Torah — were taken from Congregation Ahavath Sholom Synagogue, located at 75-02 113th St., police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. Members of the public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or by texting tips to CRIMES, then entering TIP577.
