STATEN ISLAND — A power outage temporarily knocked out electricity for hundreds of customers, including an elementary school, Monday morning, officials said.

A cable feedling a power line malfunctioned and cut the lights in sections of Annandale shortly after 9 a.m., a spokesman for Con Ed said.

P.S. 36, the John C. Drumgoole School, located at 255 Ionia St., was among the customers temporarily in the dark, Con Ed and FDNY officials said. There are 940 students — ranging from Pre-K to fifth-grade, including special education — are enrolled at the school, according to the Department of Education's website.

The Department of Education did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking information about the outage.

Crews rerouted electricity and restored power in about 20 minutes, the Con Ed spokesman said.

There were no reports of evacuations, an FDNY official said.
