SUTTON PLACE — A construction worker was hit in the head by a massive falling metal box as he worked on the scaffolding of a Sutton Place building Wednesday.

Firefighters said that the object that the worker was injured by at 1 Sutton Pl., near East 57th Street, at 9:25 a.m. appeared to weigh about 200 lbs.

"He wasn't knocked unconscious, he was still talking when we brought him down," said FDNY Lt. Hugh Duffy.

The worker, whose name was not released, had been working on a scaffolding on the second story of the building.

He was taken to an unknown hospital.

The Department of Buildings was not immediately able to comment on the accident Wednesday.
