QUEENS — A man was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in Richmond Hill early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Shortly after midnight, an 11:42 p.m. LIRR train from Penn Station to Huntington, Long Island, struck the man while crossing the bridge above Jamaica Avenue and 130th Street, an MTA spokesman said.
The unidentified victim, who was about 25 to 35 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesman added.
Local LIRR service was suspended for about four hours after the incident.
About 300 people on the train at the time were removed via an adjoining train, the spokesman said.
LIRR service to Woodside, Forest Hills and Kew Gardens was suspended until 4:15 a.m. MTA subways cross-honored LIRR tickets on the Queens Boulevard line.
