MIDTOWN — A white powder found in a Madison Avenue office building Monday afternoon was being investigated by authorities, officials said.

Emergency service units and Hazmat teams raced to the Wells Fargo bank on the ground floor of 180 Madison Ave. about 2 p.m. after the call for a suspicious substance, NYPD and FDNY representatives said.

An unidentified woman and two firefighters were exposed to the powder and were being decontaminated at the scene, the FDNY said.

Police later determined that the substance was not hazardous.

The substance was not immediately identified, officials said.

A manager at the bank declined comment.
