Police Hunting Hammer-Wielding Brooklyn Rapist

BROOKLYN — Cops are hunting a hammer-wielding man suspected of raping one woman and attempting to rape another in Brooklyn earlier this week.

The man approached an 18-year-old woman in Bedford-Stuyvesant about 12:40 a.m. Monday, threatened to hit her with a hammer and then forced her into an alley, where he raped her and fled, police said. The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital for treatment.

Later that day, about 11:05 a.m., on Stone Avenue in East New York, the suspect followed another woman, 22, into her apartment building armed with a hammer and attempted to rape her, police said. The victim fended off the man and he fled, cops added.

The suspect is described a 20 to 22 years old, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 150 pounds, with a light complexion, police said. During the first incident he was wearing a black cap, hoodie, dark jeans, dark jean jacket, red, white and black sneakers, a black North Face backpack and black-framed glasses, cops said.

In the second incident he was wearing a black hoodie, black baseball hat, blue jeans and a backpack.
