Brooklyn Man Charged With Killing and Dismembering Roommate

By Wil Cruz | April 5, 2012 5:16pm

BROOKLYN — A Sheepshead Bay man suspected of beating his roommate to death — and then chopping the body into pieces to fit in the fridge — has been arraigned on murder charges, authorities said.

Sergey Mamonov, 49, is accused of killing Aleksandr Zilbergleyt in their fourth-floor apartment at 3395 Nostrand Ave., law enforcement officials said.

Zilbergleyt, 55, was beaten to death before his body was dismembered, according to the criminal complaint filed against Mamonov.

Zilbergleyt's remains were found Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police discovered a mix of bone and tissue soaking in containers of bleach in the refrigerator, the Daily News reported.

Mamonov, a Russian immigrant, allegedly confessed to killing Zilbergleyt because he was too noisy, according to the News.

Cops nabbed Mamonov Wednesday afternoon, police said. He was arraigned on second-degree murder charges in Brooklyn Criminal Court later that night, a spokesman at the District Attorney's office said.

He was remanded to jail, and is expected back in court on Monday.

His attorney, Kleon Andreadis, could not be reached for comment.
