It looks like New Yorkers will be going back to work on Monday since the winning tickets in the mammoth $640 million Mega Millions drawing were sold elsewhere.

Winning numbers of 02-04-23-38-46 with Mega Ball 23 produced winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland, officials said.

Despite the long odds against winning -- about one in 176 million -- New Yorkers were saddened as their lottery dreams were dashed.

"Of course I'm disappointed, everybody's disappointed," said Charles D. at the corner Smoke and News Shop at 125th and Broadway in Harlem Saturday morning. "I buy one every week. I keep buying them because that way hopefully one day I'll win."

Bettors in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands spent nearly $1.5 billion in pursuit of the record-breaking prize, USA Today reported.
